Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy
What can I expect in therapy?
Therapy is a collaborative process. We’ll set goals together and move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. Sessions often focus on increasing self-understanding, building nervous system regulation skills, and working through the emotional impact of life experiences.
Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes and are offered through in-person therapy in Boise, Idaho (starting March 1, 2026), as well as secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth for adults located in Idaho or Arizona (Arizona services are provided through Healing Hearts Counseling).
How do I schedule a consultation?
I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can talk briefly about what’s bringing you in and whether my approach feels like a good fit.
Arizona clients: Call or text (480) 656-9174 (Healing Hearts Counseling).
Idaho clients: Schedule through my SimplePractice portal or text (208) 477-1302.
Email inquiries are always welcome.
What are your fees?
Session fees vary by service type and by state. Each location has its own billing structure, sliding-scale availability, and options for extended EMDR sessions.
More details are available on the Fees & Billing page.
Do you accept insurance?
Idaho Clients: I accept select insurance plans for services provided in Idaho. I also work with private-pay clients and can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement when applicable.
Arizona Clients: For services provided in Arizona, I am unable to bill insurance directly. Arizona clients are seen on a private-pay basis. If your plan offers out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement.
Out-of-network benefits vary by plan. You may wish to ask your insurance provider about coverage for out-of-network mental health services, reimbursement rates, and any preauthorization requirements. I’m happy to help you think through these questions if needed.
What payment methods do you take?
I accept credit/debit cards and HSA/FSA cards.
Payments are processed securely through my electronic health record platform at the time of each session. Payment is due at the time of each session.
Do you offer telehealth sessions?
Yes. I provide secure telehealth counseling for adult residents of Arizona or Idaho. Telehealth offers flexibility for busy schedules and allows you to attend therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
All telehealth sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform that protects your confidentiality.
What issues do you specialize in?
I work with adults seeking support for:
Trauma recovery and EMDR therapy
Grief and life transitions
Betrayal trauma and relational wounds
Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
Women’s mental health, including postpartum support, pregnancy loss, fertility challenges, perimenopause, and menopause.
All services are trauma-informed and tailored to your individual needs.
What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain and nervous system reprocess distressing or overwhelming experiences.
Using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping), EMDR reduces the emotional intensity connected to past events. It is not hypnosis and does not erase memories—it supports your system in processing them in a more adaptive, less overwhelming way.
Sessions are paced carefully and collaboratively, with attention to safety and readiness.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments are reserved specifically for you. To avoid being charged the full session fee, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
I understand that emergencies happen, and exceptions are handled with care when possible.
Arizona clients: Cancellations are managed through Healing Hearts Counseling at (480) 656-9174.
Idaho clients: Cancellations are managed through my SimplePractice portal or by texting (208) 477-1302.
What if I am not sure therapy will help?
Feeling unsure is completely normal. Therapy is a significant step, and it’s okay to have questions or hesitation.
That’s why the consultation is a no-pressure space to explore what you’re looking for, ask questions, and decide whether this feels like the right next step. Many clients find that having a consistent, supportive place to process challenges brings clarity and steadiness over time.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under the No Surprises Act, clients not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected therapy costs.
This estimate is provided after your intake paperwork is complete and before ongoing therapy begins.
You can learn more about your rights on the CMS website.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes. I’m currently accepting new adult clients for:
In-person therapy in Boise, Idaho
Telehealth therapy in Idaho
Telehealth therapy in Arizona (through Healing Hearts Counseling)
Availability may vary by service type.
