Frequently asked questions.

What can I expect in therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process. We’ll set goals together and move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. Sessions often focus on increasing self-understanding, building nervous system regulation skills, and working through the emotional impact of life experiences.

Sessions are 50 minutes and offered:

  • In-person in Gilbert, Arizona (through Healing Hearts Counseling)

  • Telehealth anywhere in Arizona or Idaho

How do I schedule a consultation?

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can talk briefly about what’s bringing you in and whether my approach feels like a good fit.

  • Arizona clients: Call or text (480) 656-9174 (Healing Hearts Counseling).

  • Idaho clients: Schedule through my SimplePractice portal.

Email inquiries are always welcome.

What are your fees?

Session fees vary based on the type of service and the state where care is provided. Each location has its own billing structure, sliding-scale availability, and extended-session options for EMDR or deeper trauma work.

You can find full details on the Fees & Billing page, including current rates, payment policies, and state-specific information

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly.

If your plan offers out-of-network reimbursement, I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company.

Reimbursement varies by plan, so I recommend contacting your provider to ask about:

  • Coverage for “out-of-network mental health services”

  • Your deductible and reimbursement rate

  • Any preauthorization requirements

I’m happy to walk you through these questions if you’re unsure where to start.

What payment methods do you take?

I accept credit/debit cards and HSA/FSA cards.

Payments are processed securely through the electronic health record platform at the time of each session.

Do you offer telehealth sessions?

Yes. I provide secure telehealth counseling for residents anywhere in Arizona or Idaho. Telehealth allows flexibility for busy schedules or those who prefer the comfort of home.

All sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform that protects your privacy.

What issues do you specialize in?

My work focuses on:

  • Trauma recovery and EMDR therapy

  • Grief and life transitions

  • Betrayal trauma

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Women’s mental health, including postpartum support, pregnancy loss, fertility challenges, perimenopause, and menopause.

All sessions are trauma-informed and tailored to your individual needs.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain and body reprocess distressing experiences. Through bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping), EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity tied to past events.

It’s not hypnosis and doesn’t erase memories — it helps your nervous system process them in a more adaptive, less overwhelming way.

Sessions are paced gently and safely based on readiness..

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments are reserved specifically for you. To avoid being charged the full session fee, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

I understand that emergencies happen, and we’ll discuss exceptions with care.

What if I am not sure therapy will help?

Feeling unsure is completely normal. That’s why our consultation is a no-pressure space to ask questions, explore what you need, and get a sense of whether this feels like the right fit.

Many clients find that having a consistent, supportive place to process challenges brings clarity and steadiness over time.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, clients not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected therapy costs.

This estimate is provided after your intake paperwork is complete and before ongoing therapy begins.

You can learn more about your rights on the CMS website.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes. I’m currently accepting new adult clients for:

  • In-person and telehealth sessions in Arizona

  • Telehealth sessions in Idaho

How do I get started?

Taking the first step can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to do it alone. Schedule your free 15-minute consultation and we’ll walk through your goals, questions, and next steps together.
